Vinecash Presbyterian Church

A special occasion marking the ties between Ulster Presbyterianism and the United States of America

It was an honour to be invited to perform at Vinecash Presbyterian Church on the 28th October for the unveiling of a blue plaque to commemorate the life and work of William Tennent (1673-1746).

William Tennent worshiped at Vinecash before emigrating to America in 1716 where he set up the Log College. It was the first of such institutions for the training of Presbyterian Ministers.

The plaque was presented by the Ulster History Circle and generously funded by the Ulster-Scots Agency. It was unveiled by special guests Mr James Applegate, US Consul General Belfast, and the Rt Revd Dr Richard Murray, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.

It was a privilege to be invited to take part in this special occasion, as we mark the important ties between Ulster Presbyterianism and the United States of America.
